Stolen and uncorrupted Hosts of Silla
Chris George - April 2020
The Eucharistic miracle of Silla happened in 1907. Some Hosts were stolen by unknown thieves, were recovered in perfect condition and were hidden under a stone in a little garden not far from the city. Still they remain intact even after one hundred years. The Hosts are preserved in the church of Our Lady of the Angels in Silla, Spain. Still today it is possible to adore the uncorrupted Hosts preserved in the church of this town at the outskirts of Valencia.
On the feast of Annunciation, during the Holy Mass Fr. Fernand Gomez, Vicar of the Church of Our Lady of the Angels in Silla opened the tabernacle to take the consecrated Hosts to distribute to the faithful. He found the tabernacle door opened and the silver cibrorium with all the consecrated Hosts missing.
The Sacred Hosts were found two days later in a small garden outside the city, hidden under a stone. The pastor returned them with a solemn procession to the church and kept there.
In 1934 they found that those Hosts were remained uncorrupted and still in the original condition.
Archbishop of Valencia started a canonical process to declare it as a miracle. He wrote a detailed documentation of the miracle. When the bishops residence was burned down by the anarchists-communists two years later, the document was lost.
In 1982, Archbishop of Valencia. Monsignor Miguel Roca, opened a new canonical process and officially determined how to officially worship the Sacred Host of the miracle.
